About Ms. Hudson
Ms. Hudson received her Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina University in Family and Community Services with a double minor in English Education and Psychology. She received her Master of Arts degree in Human Services: Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. Ms. Hudson has devoted over ten years to education in serving scholars. She is a former mental health professional, English educator, Crisis Intervention Prevention Trainer, and Behavior Support Specialist Liaison. Currently, Ms. Hudson is thrilled to be School Counselor at such a wonderful institution.
What Do School Counselors Do (in a nutshell)?
- Provide individualized guidance to help students create academic plans, navigate career choices, and address personal challenges.
- Listen to students’ concerns about academic, emotional or social problems
- Help students process their problems and plan goals and action
- Mediate conflict between students and teachers
- Improve parent/teacher relationships
- Assist with college applications, jobs and scholarships
- Facilitate drug and alcohol prevention programs
- Organize peer counseling programs
- Provide short-term counseling
- Refer students to psychologists and other mental health resources for long-term counseling
- Work on academic boards to improve learning conditions
- Lead, advocate, and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students
