Weldon City Schools Approves New Principal at Middle School

A familiar face greeted students at Weldon Middle School on Tuesday, October 25th.  Ms. Angela Tyler began her first day as the Principal of the middle school on Tuesday, and she was reunited with former students and colleagues. Prior to being named the Principal of the middle school, Ms. Tyler was the Assistant Principal at Weldon Elementary Global Academy.

“I have been in education for 22 years,” started Ms. Tyler. “Being an educator is very rewarding because it allows you to be a service to others; students and the community,” she continued.  “I want my students to be proud of being from the small town of Weldon, and, more importantly, for them to know that their zipcode doesn't determine their destination in life.” she remarked.

“We are pleased that we were able to grow and elevate one of our own administrators to this principalship,” offered Dr. Dannie Williams, Superintendent of Weldon City Schools. “Ms. Tyler has previous experience at the middle school level, so she’ll be well-served by her robust experience in serving various learners with diverse backgrounds at the middle school and elementary levels,” he added.

After enrolling at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University, Ms. Tyler completed her Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan College (NC). Later, she earned her Master’s of Educational Administration from Cambridge College (MA). Ms. Tyler was named Teacher of the Year (2014 & 2015) twice at Phillips Middle School in Edgecombe County.
